This summer, Tempesta di Mare’s musicians are laying tracks for two CD’s of chamber music for release on Chandos Records in the coming season.
Already in June, Gwyn Roberts has taken center mic for sonatas by Francesco Mancini, a repertoire she recently rediscovered for herself and has become pleasantly obsessed with. The disc will consist of 8 sonatas on recorder and baroque flute accompanied by Lisa Terry, cello, Adam Pearl, harpsichord, and Richard Stone, guitar, archlute and theorbo. Readers who attended Gwyn’s recitals on our series last season at Barnes or Woodmere have heard some of these pieces and will vouch for what a welcome addition they are to the baroque recorder canon. The sessions took place in Griswold Hall of the famed Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where Gwyn, Adam and Richard all teach. The Mancini CD will come out as part of Chandos’ March 2014 release.
